Members, family and friends of Hayle Surf Life Saving Club bravely turned out on Christmas Day morning to take part in the Club?s traditional annual ritual to take a dip in the sea without wetsuits. Six year old Daisy Petterson, who can?t wait until she is seven and old enough to become a Nipper member, was the youngest participant and founder member Gil Tredinnick, who can always be relied upon to be there, was the oldest.Club Captain, Dave Parker, said ?I don?t think any of us were looking forward to our ?dip? this year with the sub zero temperatures we?ve been experiencing lately, but Christmas Day morning dawned sunny and comparatively ?warm? compared to earlier in the week and I was surprised to see so many turn up for the challenge. As usual there were more people watching than actually going in ? perhaps they?ll join us next year! After a hot shower, some mulled wine, chocolates and biscuits we were all warmed through again and ready to enjoy the rest of Christmas Day and looking forward to another successful year for the Club in 2010.? See photos in slideshow on home page.

Oveer 70 Nipper and Junior members of Hayle Surf Life Saving Club together with their Parents and younger and older silblings enjoyed a Fun Day of events on Hayle beach on Sunday 4 October to mark the end of the Summer. Everyone who took part received a goody bag with contents donated by the Propritors of Cove Cafe, Cornwall College and Club members. Organiser of the event, Traci Parker, said "We had a really good day with everyone enjoying themselves & the BBQ afterwards. The events were loosely based on the things that the Nippers do at their competitions so it gave the Parents a taste of the physical effort that is needed to complete some of the more strenuous races, particularly those in the sea. "

On Wed 8 July club members did their bit for Anglo/French relations when we welcomed a group of French youngsters from Pordic in Brittany to our evening training session. As they had been in the sea already that day having surfing lessons they were happy to stay on dry land and join in with Beach Flags. Language was a bit of a barrier but a good time was had by all.

A very big thank you to Nippers, Esme & Freya Adams dad, James who very generously at our recent club do donated £500 towards the cost of Nipper rash vests for our Nipper sessions on the beach. James has donated the money from his business - Ladydowns Christmas Trees - and also donated a Christmas Tree for our Clubhouse this year.

.Hayle Surf Life Saving Club members, family and friends recently enjoyed an excellent evening at the HE Bar at Cornwall College to celebrate their achievements in 2009.
